Hello! I’m Cody.
Thanks for sharing your time with me!
A number of life events led me to providing mental health counseling and therapy
I spent many months in a Taoist Temple in China, living amongst Taoist Clerics. Mental Health awareness is primarily delivered through religion in China. Having observed the power of religion and spirituality, I also noted the urgent need for proper professional training.
I ran a vocational post secondary educational school, helping professionals transition from one job industry to another. After 8 years of doing this, I realized that the imposter syndrome and mental anxiety was the core blocker for most students - not a knowledge gap in skills.
I am an entrepreneur, and by definition, a problem solver at heart. Yet, after a break-up, I realized that I had zero applicable skills to help my partner recover from her mental health. I felt helpless.
I am a software product manager by day with an AI-tech company. I asked ChatGPT what jobs will be safe in 5 to 10 years. I am too old to be a Michelin Star chef. I do not possess the mental fortitude to be a hospice care worker. But I absolutely can do mental health counseling and therapy.
Outside of mental health counseling, I drink Taiwanese Tea, do Tai Chi / combat martial arts, practice Chinese Calligraphy and am involved in land conservation easements, tax audit defense for small business, corporate audit accounting and insurance.
You can find out more about me, outside of therapy in my Linkedin!

For our session together…
Disclaimer
I am currently operating as a religious faith based counselor. While I am currently in graduate studies to obtain licensure, note that I am not practicing as a professional therapist.
Please excuse any unfamiliarity I may have during our session as, I too am learning with you as I obtain my Level 3 Certification in TEAM-CBT. It is an adapted practice of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and created by Dr. David Burns at the Feeling Good Institute. You can find out more through his book, Feeling Great.
If you require professional counseling by a licensed psychologist or mental health counselor for urgent or immediately suicidal thoughts - please contact the suicide hotline at 998 immediately.
Note that I may not be effectively equipped to counsel you through your specific issues.
Please make sure that…
You have at least an hour to an hour and a half blocked off for our session. I try to keep it to one hour but sometimes may run over.
You are ready for tele-medicine. You have a stable internet connection, your camera is on, you are in a well-lit area where I can see you, and your background is relatively quiet and ideally alone.
You complete the BEFORE section of the Brief Mood Survey. This BMS is critical for success and is the T in TEAM-CBT. Linked HERE. We will complete the rest of the survey at the end of our session. Its recommended to complete this right before our session.
You arrive mentally prepared and ready for counseling. Our time together is very specific. We won’t spend any time doing friendly life updates or catch-up. We will dive straight into the Brief Mood Survey to start.
It is also helpful to share with me beforehand if you’ve previously received any type of therapy before and, if comfortable, what issues you would like to discuss so I may adequately prepare for our session.
